But the Oracle does not provide Oedipus with a time frame for the prophecy. Oedipus loves his parents and believes that something awful must happen to him to cause him to do the terrible things in the prophecy. And since he has no time frame, he worries that this awful thing might happen the very next time he sees his parents. So he felt he had no other option but to leave immediately. We all must make the best decisions with the information we have at the time. Identify a different situation in the play and explain why you think Oedipus made the right or wrong decision.
