Here are some specifics:
• You have two article critiques to complete. For each critique, choose an article that is less
than 10 years old. The article you choose must be a research article in Social Psychology
that is scholarly and peer reviewed. See the library’s website for help with this if
necessary. I also must approve of the article before you proceed.
• Each critique must be in APA format.
• Each critique must have a title, an introduction, a body, and a conclusion as part of the
format.
• Your critiques will be short. No more than 600 words are allowed.
• As a critique, this paper must include your opinion throughout. However, it must be an
educated opinion, not just “because I say so.”
While you do not have to provide me with copies of the articles, each must be listed under
“references” for each critique. You should not have any other references except possibly one of
our texts. It would be a good idea to complete the first critique and receive feedback prior to
starting the second critique.
Your critique should include:
• An introduction that briefly explains the research focus of the article and why you chose
this specific piece. In as few words as possible, describe the hypothesis and goals of the
experiment/research, what they did (method), and what their results were.
• A very detailed discussion of your opinion of the research article. Please discuss how this
research relates to social psychology and what we have talked about in class as well as
your personal opinion about how well the research was conducted. Why is this research
important? How does this research help us understand ourselves and others? What do you
think the researchers did right and what did they do wrong (if anything)? What other
opinions do you have about this article? Be real, but also realistic and professional.
• A conclusion that includes how you would rate this article (rating scale is up to you) and
what kind of similar research you think could be done in the future. Don’t let the critique
fall flat; it should end on a solid note.
