Look over this news shotlist provided. Make notes or stars on the clips, pictures (VIZ), and sound-ups that you like the best.
Then BUILD a story using the simple framework example above.
You can begin your story with: top and tail, best pictures, or best emotion.
Your story should use between three and five clips. You can choose to use the stand-up or streeters if you wish. Don’t be afraid to include sound-ups that you like, too.
Once you have selected your clips, then you can write voice-overs to provide more information or to set up the next clip.
Don’t get worried about making your story too complicated! This is a simple exercise for you to learn about putting clips/voice-overs/streeters/graphics and sound-ups in a particular order.
Here’s the story background:
The American Government is planning deep spending cuts which will reduce the number of border guards at US crossings. This is expected to cause longer lines and wait times for Canadians travelling south. Local businesses are very concerned because they depend on Canadian shoppers. Meanwhile Canadian shoppers will have to balance whether cheaper food prices are worth waiting at a border crossing for up to two hours.

Now put down a simple script: select a few clips, streeters, and stand-up to tell your story. Decide which order you want your story to follow. Then write voice-overs to connect all the other pieces.
Look over your script to ensure the most important information has been included.
Make general notes beside your voice-overs about the timecodes of the pictures you would use:
