Step 2: Then, organize your notes so that whichever text resonated with you (Article 1 or 2 or the podcast) is listed first and the one that you found less convincing second and third. Again, separate the text into the arguments that you’ve defined in Step 1, but then follow this scheme:
Text 1: Argument/Warrant
Text 2: Counter-argument
Text 3: Rebuttal
Repeat this for as many arguments/counter-arguments and rebuttals as you see in the texts.
If these directions feel confusing (they’re a little awkward), here’s the simple version:
Identify the arguments in the podcast you selected and in the two articles you found (using Toulmin’s method). Then list these arguments so that they are in dialogue/how you would organize them as support for points in an essay.
