This week, your task is to prepare an educational brochure for use in a clinical practice setting. You have been asked to assist new psychologists in your practice with cultural competence, as your facility serves a very diverse range of clients.

Locate five current peer-reviewed articles about mental health challenges faced by individuals belonging to a specific population of your choice, which may include individuals with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ community, or older adults. Your articles should also include interventions that have been proposed or used to assist these individuals in addressing mental health concerns.

In your brochure, be sure to include the following:

Determine key concepts of cultural competence to help those in practice understand multiculturalism.

Explain specifics related to at least two different populations to understand clients’ unique needs better. For example, how should a member of the LGBTQ community addressing mental illness be assisted if that individual does not have family support?

Discuss intersectionality and consider how this issue may apply to clients and their unique needs.

Recommend best practices for incorporating cultural identity when interacting with clients.

Support your assignment with your five located articles and the weekly readings. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including seminal articles, may be included.

Length: 2-4 pages, not including title and reference pages

Your brochure should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University's Academic Integrity Policy.
