From everything that we learned about creating your own portfolio, now as we are working towards creating it, what are your concerns about the whole process? This can be in regard to anything that we have gone over. What I’m looking for are your actual feelings as we are not in a class setting and doing classes online is a little different.

USEFUL NOTES FOR:

From everything that we learned about creating your own portfolio, now as we are working towards creating it, what are your concerns about the whole process? This can be in regard to anything that we have gone over. What I’m looking for are your actual feelings as we are not in a class setting and doing classes online is a little different.

Introduction

I’m really excited about this class and I can’t wait to get started! My only concern is that there are so many things in this course that I don’t understand, but my goal is to finish the course with a passing grade so we will figure it out together.

I’m worried that the class might be too difficult for me since I don’t have much experience with this kind of stuff.

I’m worried that the class might be too difficult for me since I don’t have much experience with this kind of stuff. I don’t want to spend too much time on creating and styling my portfolio, that I won’t have enough time to write the blog posts.

I also worry about spending too much money on photo editing software, buying new clothes and shoes, etc., as well as dealing with clients who will want something different than what you say in your proposal or contract because they are looking for something specific from an artist (e.g., someone who can draw cute animals).

I’m worried that I will spend too much time on creating and styling my portfolio, that I won’t have enough time to write the blog posts.

As we have talked about in class, you will need to find a balance between the two. You can’t spend too much time on one or the other because if you do, it will show and make your portfolio look unprofessional. The blog posts are important but they take time away from creating your portfolio so be sure that they are done well!

What happens if we are done with working on our portfolio early?

If you are not done with your portfolio, there are other things that you can do. You can work on other projects and blog posts. You could also work on your portfolio if it hasn’t been finished yet.

What do we need to do in order to “pass” the class?

Create a portfolio. You need to create an online portfolio that showcases all of the work you have done in order for it to be accepted by your teacher.

Write a blog post about the class and submit it as part of your portfolio. This will help show how much thought you put into what is being taught in class, as well as why answering questions like these is important for future jobs or internships (and also how much fun this class was!).

How do we grade ourselves?

As we are working towards creating our own portfolios, I have some concerns about the process. These are not necessarily related to what we learned in class but more of a general question that I have been wondering about. How do we grade ourselves?

The way that I am seeing this play out is going to be based on how well you follow through on the criteria that we set for yourself and your peers will then review your work and give feedback on it. This will help weed out poor quality pieces so that when they review each other’s work, there are fewer problems within their own projects as well as being able to see if there is something missing or lacking in someone else’s presentation (for example: they may not have included all elements required by their assignment).

The class is really confusing for me but my goal is to finish it with a passing grade. Hopefully, I can figure out what I need to do.

Conclusion

In the end, what I learned from this class is that it’s okay to not know everything. It’s okay if you don’t know how to do something or if you don’t understand some of the things we are learning about here in class. This kind of feeling makes your portfolio look so much more authentic.
