Lincoln lost many elections and learned a lot from those failures which enabled him to win the presidency. Lasting Leadership and Influence. The impact of Lincolns leadership is everlasting and felt in present day. Obviously, putting an end to slavery and keeping the South from seceding are incredible feats, but Lincoln impacted people and the country in many more ways that will be discussed in this section.

Lincoln is one of the most prominent leaders in American history. When thinking about the last several centuries, an argument can be made that he was one of the greatest leaders in the world. The industrial revolution had put America in a strong position and Lincolns presidency was one that kept the country from splintering, and ensured it maintained its power, and ended 250 years of slavery. Lincoln experienced many challenges and failures, but persevered, and demonstrated prevailing leadership in the most austere circumstances.
