Respiratory disease is a significant disorder in the United States.  From our materials this week, please discuss something you have learned about the respiratory system that has changed your understanding of the respiratory system.  

Part II: Disease Discussion

First, choose one of the following diseases:

• CHF
• Asthma
• COPD

Next, answer the following questions about the disease you chose. You might need to do outside research. If so, cite your sources. Remember that you have access to excellent databases through the Hartnell College library. Click here (Links to an external site.) to access the Health Sciences databases.

• Is there more than one type of disease? If so, what are they?
• What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?
• What are the possible treatments for the disease?
• Can anything be done to prevent the disease? 
• Do you know anyone who has had the disease? If so, what was their experience? If not, find a case online and describe that person’s experience.
• What would you recommend to a patient who has been diagnosed with the disease?
