Before you begin the Annotated Bibliography, be sure that you have reviewed carefully the prompt for the Research Paper, which will need to focus on issues related to Willa Cather’s My Antonia.  Also, be sure to review the material on annotated bibliographies in our Canvas shell.

For your MLA-styled Annotated Bibliography, please note the following: 

• state the focus of your proposed research paper and a tentative thesis at the top of your Annotated Bibliography
• include 6-8 scholarly sources from our LAMC library databases and/or the University of Lincoln, Nebraska’s Willa Cather Archive’s Cather Studies (Links to an external site.)
• each annotation of a source should be 180-225 words (see details below)*
• you may only include two books (print or e-book)–the rest of the sources should be from academic journals

*What each annotation should include: 

• A citation to the article or chapter a book
• Qualifications of the author or authors
• Mention of the methods the authors used
• A summary of the argument and/or findings
• Evaluation of the work (for example the logic of the arguments or value of the evidence)
• How this work supports your own research*
