Students will conduct a literature review related to the social, economic,
and/or political structures impacting educational institutions and how they contribute to or
mitigate forms of inequality. The main idea should probe questions we explore in the class:
how does the topic inform the role of education within the larger social order?; How does your
topic illustrate the reproductive and/or generative roles of education in society?; How does
your topic inform educational leaders or what is taught in schools?; How does your topic
illustrate how educational opportunity and access are structured along lines of wealth, race,
social class, language, gender, sexuality, (dis)ability, etc? You do not need to answer all of
these questions in one paper, however it should be oriented around one or more of them.
Fifteen to twenty double-spaced pages, using 10 scholarly sources published within the last ten
years. APA, 7th edition style.
