What were the important events, ideas, belief systems, and worldview that existed when the source was originally create

write a  1,250-1,450-word paper (4-5 pages) that analyzes the source and its author.  Your paper should be divided into the following sections (NOTE: YOU MUST USE THIS SECTION ORGANIZATION):

  1. Summary (100-150 words): Briefly summarize the source and its main points. Explain what type of source it is (e.g. journal, letter, illustration, legal document), what the source says (or shows, if it is a map/image), and the specific aspects of the source that you think are most important.
  2. Historical Context (150-200 words): Provide a brief sketch of the historical context in which the source was produced.   What were the important events, ideas, belief systems, and worldview that existed when the source was originally created?  The information for this section can be found in the lecture videos and text book readings.  You do not need to do any outside research for this section.
  3. Author and Audience (250-300 words): Provide a brief sketch of the author and the audience in this section.  Who was the author, when did they produce the source, and whom did they produce the source for?  What kind of biases might have resulted from the author’s specific background and their intended audience — that is, how might the author shade the truth because of who they were and who they were writing for? You may use outside resources for this section of the paper, but you must be sure to cite all the resources you use in the text of your paper (see below).
  4. Analysis (500-600): In this section, you will offer your own unique analysis of the source.  This section must include:
    1. clear, strong thesis stated at the beginning of the section that argues why the source is significant.  The thesis is the most important part of your paper, so you should spend some time developing your thesis before you begin writing.  If you are having trouble developing a thesis, please contact me, and I will assist you.
    2. Direct quotes from the source as evidence to support your thesis.
  5. Conclusion (100-150 words): A brief conclusion that restates what the source tells us about the worldview of the person who created it and why it is important as a historical document.
  6. Works Cited Page: You must include a list of all the works you cited. The Works Cited Page should be a separate page and should be in MLA format.  The Works Cited Page does not count towards the overall word/page count.
