• Consider how leadership in your chosen agency is influenced by the political realm and by the dichotomy between politics and administration.
• Consider the capacities of the theoretical framework you chose for your Week 3 assignment.

Assignment Instructions

In this third assignment, you will continue to analyze the agency you used for the previous assignments.

Even though the government is largely run by career professionals who span multiple administrations, the practice of public administration is often affected by political considerations and the political realm.

For this third assignment, in a 45 page paper, you will need to:

• Analyze how the political realm influences the ability of leadership in your chosen agency to solve your chosen problem. For example, are there political issues with obtaining funding/budgeting to address the problem?
• Analyze how the public-sector dichotomy between administration and politics may affect leadership within the agency. For example, could the leader of the agency being politically appointed as opposed to elected affect their ability to implement solutions?
• Evaluate whether the theoretical framework you selected in your Week 3 assignment allows for the role of politics in the public sector.

You are encouraged to structure your assignment using the following subheadings that mirror the scoring criteria in the attached scoring guide.
